I came up in the pit.
Roughly a decade photographing concerts, festivals and people in motion taught me to anticipate a moment without interrupting it. That instinct is what I bring to elopements, tours, retreats and campaigns alike.
A documentary eye, earned in low light
I'm Tara — a Denver-based documentary photographer working across elopements and intimate ceremonies, music and touring, retreats and hosted travel, and brand and destination campaigns. What holds all of it together is one approach: capture what actually happened, beautifully and honestly.
Years of shooting live music in unpredictable rooms built a particular set of muscles—reading a space fast, working in difficult light, staying calm when a moment can't be repeated. Those are the exact skills an elopement or a campaign day quietly demands.
What that means for you
- Very little posing. Mostly, I document.
- Confident in low light, motion and chaos.
- Planning help—locations, timing, permits, vendors—is part of the experience.
My work is for people, not categories — couples, musicians, adventurers, brands. LGBTQ+ affirming, always.
The environment where my documentary instincts were built.
One approach, every kind of story
Documentary photography for intimate people, live experiences, and destination stories.
Whether it's a courthouse elopement at 10 a.m., a full tour run through three cities, a hosted retreat in Japan, or a campaign shoot — the instinct is the same: get in the room, read what's real, and don't miss it.
